Daily Activities Schedule

The Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum offers many daily activities in the Museum Galleries and Doon Heritage Village. See below for the list of scheduled daily activities and visit the Museum Map and Village Map to see where the activities take place. 

 

Friday, December 6 Daily Activities PA DAY

Seasonal Craft – enjoy a winter themed craft in the Grand Foyer. Museum 3

10:30 a.m.  Eid- Join us to explore this holiday which is celebrated in the region. Let’s celebrate Eid,  Eid Mubarak. Best for ages 3 and up. Museum 3

11:30 a.m. Lunar New Year - Join us to explore the winter holidays celebrated in the region. Let’s celebrate the Year of the dog. Best for ages 3 and up. Museum 3

1:30 p.m.  Hanukkah - Join us to explore the winter holidays celebrated in the region. Let’s light our Menorahs. Best for ages 3 and up. Museum 3

2:30 p.m. Diwali- Join us to explore the winter holidays celebrated in the region. Let’s celebrate Diwali, the festival of lights. - Museum 3

3:30 p.m. Women’s Work- Test your 1950s and 60s secretary skills to see if you can make the cut. Museum H

 

 

Saturday, December 7 Daily Activities

 12 p.m. Steam - Meet Hazel in a new way and learn about the power of steam. Best for ages 5 and up. Museum C

2 p.m. Car City - Enjoy an afternoon talk by Rick Haldenby, Professor at the University of Waterloo School of Architecture. Car City is a post-war tale of highways, plazas, suburbs, and sprawl. Museum 4

 

3 p.m. Cruisin’ Cars with LEGO – Discover what makes cars move and build one out of LEGO to test drive! Best for ages 4 and up. Museum K

 

4 p.m. Transportation Trivia - How much do you know about boats, planes, trains, and automobiles? Come and find out! Suitable for ages 7 and up. 

 

 

Sunday, December 8 Daily Activities

Holidays Around the World

Join us to celebrate the many winter holidays that happen around this time of year. Find out where Diwali comes from and what a diya is. Or discover the miracles of Hanukkah and play some dreidel. Have you ever wondered about Eid Al-Fitr and how to celebrate? Or are you curious about which Zodiac sign you might be and what you need for Chinese New Year? Finally, do have some questions about Christmas and how people around the world celebrate? Well don’t miss this chance as we explore all these things in our Grand Foyer.

 

Heritage Village 1914 Christmas

Play some holiday I –spy in the General Store. Village map 6.

Have a taste of Christmas in the McArthur House with Apple Cider. Village map 13

Have a wagon Ride through the village. Pick up at the Repair shop. Village map 15

Visit the Seibert’s for some shortbread cookies. Village 16

Sing along with our heritage musical group in the Freeport Church. Village map 19

Make your own Springerle decoration in the Sararas’ House. Village map 17
