Take your students on a virtual field trip at the Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum. Until we can welcome you back for in-person field trips, we are developing FREE online resources to help you enliven learning.

Bringing the museum to your classroom. We are taking the very best of our onsite education programs and activities and offering FREE 30 minute virtual programs to engage your students.
Baskets Full of Old and New - Suggested Grades JK/SK & Grade 1 |
Your class we’ll go through items found in our historic General Store and compare them with similar and familiar objects we use today. Conversation can be catered to discuss the purpose and attributes of the objects, as well as the roles and responsibilities of the people using them. A great idea for a fun virtual show and tell. |
Changes in Matter - Suggested Grade 5 |
The coal-fired forged heats up the cold steel, molecules really begin to get moving, smoke and steam rise into the air. Be transported to our Blacksmith Shop to discuss the three main States of Matter and learn a thing or two about this vital historic trade. |
Coming to Canada - Suggested Grades 9 & 10 |
Diverse communities of people have come from all over the world to Waterloo Region for generations, and it continues today. Visit our gallery live-online with museum staff to hear personal stories and accounts people coming to Canada. Have a focused discussion on the topics your class is tackling, from factors affecting political issues, to implications of immigration and diversity for Canada. |
